You can feel this feeling of freedom all of the time, once you understand you are limiting your behaviour by changing your perspective. Next time when you are feeling oppressed in the day, try to remember that you're allowed to feel exactly the same as you do at night. Nobody cares enough to judge you and if they did, a thought in their head doesn't hurt you and doesn't last long. A thought or judgement in another person's head shouldn't rule your mood and behavior.

If you watch the sun rise in the morning while sitting on the grass, dirt or concrete with your bare skin touching it, you will normalize your sleep schedule EXTREMELY QUICKLY, even if you fly between Asia and North America. 2 of these sessions and your jet lag is gone. It's also beautiful to watch the sun rise.

@epelly3 all of my friends who are shiftworkers (without shift workers society would collapse, not without night people, and there's a huge difference) have a bit worse skin, eye bags, and skinnyfatness/obesity compared to my other friends. I believe shift work is rated as high as cigarette smoking as a known carcinogen. This is why people like firefighters only have to do it 20 years, and it is very well correlated to shorten life. Think about how we evolved. None of our hunter gatherer ancestors were staying up all night teaching themselves to be devs for large portions of their life. And all these stories of "night people" are people specifically saying they impose themselves in a psychological prison during the day, and so they gravitate toward the night simple to feel normal. A psychological issue like that is clearly a learned behaviour. They associate the day with social judgement and other things people with anxiety disorders care about.

Dr K, there is not really a chemical change between Borlaug's dwarf strain of wheat and ancient grains--it's just that modern dwarf strains have 12-15x the gluten than Einkhorn wheat, for example. You can see it when you bake. That, and everyone used to bake bread with a fermenting dough starter that had bacteria which broke down the gluten and wheat germ agglutinin. The advent of quick rise breads by the late 50s changed that, and we no longer eat as much true sourdoughs based on fermenting dough. It is considered time intensive to make.
