  3. Hardrada took the idea of birds on fire from Helge, the widow of Ingvar Ruricson. However, it was done more diligently than is poised in this docudrama. Helge's warriors attached to each bird a piece of thin wooden chip,of enough length, so the bird would not burn fast and would reach its nest unharmed.
