  2. Incidentally HMS Trent is a patrol vessel, not really capable of much in a fight, that said the Venezuelan navy did recently manage to get one of its ships sunk by a German cruise liner so....

  3. Lol, the US paid the pirates just as much (if not more so than anyone else), infact from 1795 20% of federal expenditure was paid to Algiers. The RN flattened Algiers for target practice in 1816 after Napoleonic war was over, followed by surpressing priacy until Fench colonisation in the 1830s ended it.
