More seriously I think the Taliban had some NVG equiped units towards the end of the Afghan war - remember reading about them attacking Afghan Police Posts (who generally weren't NVG equiped). One point here is that all of the US's superiority in this technology basically comes down to superiority in "science mumbojumbo" maintaining that will be key to maintaining a technological advantage for the US in the furture.
