I've been there - condensation on walls - mould - collapsed ceilings - always cold. I've squatted, rented and now own a property. The squats I lived in were of a better standard than some of the properties I rented legally. Some of those were hazardous to health because of structural problems, damp and mould. Slum landlords and poorly insulated properties need looking at closely and acting on in addition to energy prices.

@lestrem11 hi again - still here for you buddy - let's try something new - breathe with me : in with the love ... (hold) ... and out with the hate.... (again) ... in with the love ... (hold) ... and out with the hate ... (repeat x5). You don't have to hold on to these negative emotions - just let them all float away ....

@minnie4218 don't let him bother you - he's got a few 'issues' - I think he might have been neglected as a child.

@lestrem11 umm - I have one thanks? Not everybody can work though. Some people have medical conditions and disabilities that prevent that. Some people also do work but earn a low wage and so can't make ends meet. Other people are between jobs. There are many reasons why people struggle financially. Also it's colder up North and if you can only find an old poorly insultaed house to rent it's going to cost you extra to heat.

@lestrem11 Does she? Not so sure she does. There is poverty throughout the UK.

@PorthLlwyd The ability to comfortably sit down is one of a main functions of a house. As for going for lots of walks, that kind of sounds like being homeless. I really struggle to believe what you're saying. It sounds absurd.

@PorthLlwyd That is a noble aim. I am fortunate enough to be living in a newly built house which is already relatively energy efficient. Even so I have also started to insulate and board the loft. I think that is a better use of money than installing an expensive heat pump which for me would involve scrapping a perfectly good boiler. Plus I literally have nowhere to put it on the inside of my tiny house. I think the government should be encouraging green gas. I can hardly fit on any solar cells but I'm considering getting some anyway. The government should help people do that and make energy companies buy consumers excess electricity from them at a fairer rate. Not using any heating at all this year would be still be miserable for me despite having a relatively cozy house. I don't think no heating is an easy option, or even a choice for old people or people with children. It's hardest for those with an old house. The government should help insulate old homes.
