I dont like the phrase 'revenge porn' because the word 'revenge' implies that it is pay back for a wrong committed by the victim. 'video based sexual assault' is more apt but clunky.

@TheRichSmyth yes, it implies that the victim might have somehow deserved it. But I also suspect it is more commonly misapplied than correctly applied as its a weird kind of revenge as the perpetrator would be violating their own privacy as well as the intended victims. I suspect that it is more often used to excuse the nonconsensual making/sharing of intimate images/video.

@TheRichSmyth thanks for the clarification. Still don't like it though as it's still morally wrong as it's nonconsensual.

@TheRichSmyth of course - understood - for me the phrase seems to distract from the immoral nonconsensual aspect as it emphasises the possible motivation
