@sebsebski2829 Yes. All were recruited as docile labor for the mines and steel mills of the American Rust Belt from 1880-1920 and stayed there. After WWII, rising wages moved them into the middle class. Then those industries shrank and the third or fourth generation assimilated and prospered. True for Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Croats and Lithuanians anyway.

Completely different. Brought in as fodder for the mines and steel mills just as the Mexicans were brought in for the farms. Took two generations to realize the importance of education in America. Now doing fabulously.
