  1. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the Japanese, but they manage to design houses that look like apartments on the inside. They seem to approach it from a "how many rooms can we get into this space?" angle, rather than a "how spacious can we make things?" angle. Maybe I'm just used to very open floorplans.
