Speaking as a physician (MD), Mark is absolutely right. A GP doesn't know the detailed knowledge that a specialist does, and a specialist may not know everything a GP does in the broader picture that is not his specialty. There are plenty of lay people who may have read deeply on medical issues, or at least their particular issue. And may be more well read than a GP on their specific issue.

@RpMcMurphy_ That is all presumptive, without knowledge of the other person's knowledge and experience. Someone may have an undergrad in biological science, have become a massage therapist, and right there they would have an excellent base for understanding anatomy and physiology, and the effects of pharmacology. Also, it is presumptive to lecture me about what I have decades of experience in. Some of the things you said are true for some people, but not for others. How does one define poor information anyway? Either it is accurate or it is not.

This guy needs to study ancient Rome and learn about the great struggles for between the Plebians (the public) and the Patricians (the elites). There were many revolts against the elites, people did not just tug their forelock and say yes sir, as he seems to think. If he was talking about ancient China, he'd be more accurate but still lacking.

Intelligence increases chance for success, no doubt. That is the whole reason intelligence was developed, and why it put humans at the top of the food chain. There are many factors that influence success, and intelligence is no guarantee. But this guy brushing off intelligence as a important factor shows there is some ideological conflict there.

@BWreSlippySlope No, that's not it at all. You understand neither communism nor fascism. In fascism you can still own private property and have private enterprise. Fascism thrived in Spain for decades, and in Germany until they lost the war, no empty shelves, no kings and serfs. You need to read the communist manifesto, then study fascism back to ancient Rome, which is it's origins, and read history.

@BWreSlippySlope No kings and serfs in Italy either. Or Chile. Anyway, modern fascism is a reaction to communism. In every one of these countries, that was the case. I don't want fascism, I like my republic, but I had to take exception with your incorrect statements.
