  1.  @hawkeye5955  sailors won't harm seagulls (although strictly speaking there's no such bird only gulls) as a gull at sea is the carrier of a sailor's soul and its cry is the mournful cry of the dead man. So sailors won't touch a gull in case they injury the deceased.
