If he wasn't a Catholic, he certainly wasn't an atheist as he spike in Mein Kampf about what could only be described as a Godhead. He also took steps against the leading atheist organisation in Germany shortly after taking power and handed its buildings over to the Catholic church, which suggests he had leanings towards that faith. But he also took steps to subordinate all Christian churches the Nazi goals. I suspect we will never know the truth, but my own conclusion from all readily available sources I'd that he was a theist with no specific faith and told his audience just what they wanted to hear so that they would do his will.
