  1. Didn't the Soviet Union annul the Brest-Litovsk Treaty on 13th November 1918 and the Germans agree to its annulment as part of the Versailles Treaty?

Whilst Article 2 does say that POWs should be treated humanely, Article 45 says they are subject to the same military law and regulations as the capturing power's military and Article 46 says that can face the same justice processes as the soldiers of the capturing power for breaches of these laws and regulations. The "rioters"should have faced a court martial and if found guilty the same punishment as a British soldier found guilty of the same offence. Those killed whilst attempting to regain control are a different matter.
