@Benjamin-tg79 he couldn't even get a snipers rifle the whole time he was there and he was with some Ukrainian he told them not to light up a cigarette and they did a tank spotted them and opened fire killing the Ukrainians. He said to hell with it and left.

@danielk8149 no he said he ended up training himself on a javelin. He fought around Kiev then when the fighting went east to the Donbas he went there as well. He was 40 years old fighting there he wasn't some young guy his son had his first birthday while he was there. People who want to pass judgement should get their asses over there

@vailcondo1531 yes I'm sick of the narrative the western soldiers were cowards when they found themselves in a "REAL" war. Plenty of western soldiers are still in Ukraine band fighting well and the reason is because they're not glory seekers they went for the right reason.

@mrclean29 Vietnam could never be won because the US policy was to not put ground forces into North Vietnam which made it a holding action and nothing more you simply can't win a war doing that

@zafir7007 They left Afghanistan after 20 years because they had done all they could do there.the Taliban wouldn't engage in pitched battles where they could be destroyed and they had safe haven in Pakistan. The US had a government I'm place and for their best to train the Afghan army to defend the country when they left but the reality was 75-80% of the Afghan military were illiterate drug users and it made the whole effort hopeless. The Taliban just avoided major confrontations and used time as a weapon waiting the US out. The Afghan do it with everyone who goes to Afghanistan

@SpeCifiC0507 The Taliban weren't goat herders. They have years of experience fighting and are familiar with their terrain. They used classic insurgency tactics conducting hit and run attacks mainly IED and small arms fire then fleeing avoiding direct confrontation so they don't get destroyed. They used time as a weapon basing themselves in Pakistan where they couldn't be touched and just waited the US out. America couldn't stay there for ever at some point they had to leave and the Taliban knew it

@bigdarshan they weren't rag tag insurgents they were organised and very skilled with IED that could penetrate the armour of any vehicle

@mrclean29 No the US didn't lose the Korean war the communist forces were pushed out of South Korea which was the original goal of the operation.

@SpeCifiC0507 I don't make excuses I state facts which are known to anyone who bothered to study the Vietnam war. The only way the war could be won was to go to Hanoi and take out the regime but the US wasn't prepared to put ground forces into North Vietnam. At that point the war was nothing but a holding action that simply couldn't be won long term because the US couldn't stay there forever they were operating on a limited timeline and it was the same situation in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan the Taliban were able to base themselves in Pakistan where they couldn't be touched by US forces and they just waited the US out. The success or failure or both the Vietnam and Afghanistan operations was going to come down to the US being able to train up an effective army to protect the country when US forces left and in neither operation were they able to do so. The US public decided the Vietnam war wasn't worth it so the politicians walked away from the war and stopped supplying the south with ammunition so when the north attacked in 1975 the south collapsed. In Afghanistan 75-80% of the Afghan soldiers were drug users and illiterate building an effective army from that quality of manpower was impossible so the failure of the operation in Afghanistan was inevitable. The vietnamese forces were not just a bunch of rice farmers they had their conventional military and then they had the Viet Cong guerillas. The north Vietnamese conventional forces were well equipped with the latest Russian equipment on the ground and in the air. They had tanks artillery and modern surface-to-air missile systems from Russia and they also had a small air force equipped with MIGs from Russia.
