You guys haven't really thought this through.

Lol who cares, it's their loss frankly.

Yes PM now, if it becomes a republic, he will be president. Meaning he will have all the powers of the queen, but will actually be able to use them. So, I hope he isn't this much of a dick when you literally give him absolute power over you. You silly idiots lol

Yes, jamaicans deserve to have someone unaccountable in power. Works well for all developing nations. Let's hope their new absolute monarch doesn't go down the haiti root.

Also, say goodbye to any aid, having your waters patrolled by our navy, having your police trained by us (so now they will be even more ragtag and mental than they already are), and good luck with any hurricanes. No relief for you. But other than that, good luck you're definitely going to need it.

If Jamaicans can trust their leader enough to give them absolute power over them, then great. I kind of have a feeling, the Jamaican executive, isn't the best people to be giving absolute power to.
5
I hope the Jamaicans can trust their new Presidents, who literally have the absolute power of the British monarch, but can actually use it. May not have thought this one through lads.

@anngore3842 also, you'll find, the UK has to pay money to Jamaica. The UK doesn't receive any money from Jamaica. But you keep living in your little fantasy land.
5
You don't really understand though. Having a monarch, means you don't have a President, with all the problems that causes. But if you trust your president implicitly, and know that won't try and seize power. Then go for it. Just be warned
4
@anngore3842 because she doesn't really have any powers, and prime ministers have limited powers. Presidents are basically absolute monarchs. So, if you think Jamaica is a basket case now, just wait and see what it's like when it's ruled by someone with absolute power. I guess people don't stop to think about these things, and obviously, your prime minister isnt going to explain that little fact to you.

@stacyjd2759 really? I really couldn't careless about who rules Jamaica. Talk about insignificant. I'm just pointing out that Jamaica's rulers aren't known for their sage wisdom and velvet glove approach to ruling. Giving them unlimited powers over their subjects will probably be the worst thing Jamaica ever does. But you do you, good riddance. I just wish you'd take some of these Yahoo criminals, you've dumped over here, with you when you leave.

@Dawn I'm not angry, it's just one less mouth to feed. Let's just hope you don't get a corrupt president with absolute powers. Rather than the corrupt politicians, that already plague Jamaica, who are at least somewhat accountable. But fine, if you want to go the whole third world dictator model, it's your choice. Good luck with that.
3
@Dawn lol you're totally clueless.
3
@bradjames6748 so, you would give trudea absolute power, like a permanent state of emergency. Didn't he cause a run on the banks last time he had that?
2
@jeffreynanatakyicollins101 what benefit does the UK get from common wealth countries?
2
@chanw5797 it was exactly true, I remember it. Jamaica had full rights to come here but abused them. Sorry

@petermwangi1756 the UK doesn't have a zero crime rate, but if you want to know the community committing the most violent crime, including rape murder etc. Well, do I have to spell it out? You merely have to look up the UK crime stats to see. And that's just the kids, imagine what it was like with hard-core yardies shooting up the place. You fuked up sorry

@Tribuneoftheplebs You don't get it. Who do you think the powers of the queen will pass to when Jamaica becomes a republic? You're just about to hand absolute power, over life and death, to some one. Do you trust them?
