@markymarknj It would in some ways make sense that U.K Law is similar to that of British Columbia! I do know that if you don’t properly take the time to vet these 30 or even 40s year old ladies and you knock her up then your on the hook for child support and she can even stop you from seeing the child. Or she can act out egregiously forcing you to walk away for your own sanity. She can then put out banning orders on you approaching her and it can take up to a year with legal council and £15,000 to get some access to your child. Not really worth it in my view and hardly the textbook family unit the family laws in the U.K are horribly biased towards the woman’s favour in our secretive Kangaroo family courts! People (presumably women). Even come to the U.K to get divorced! We actually have something known as divorce tourism! How crazy is that.

I thought this video was interesting for those in the UK but anywhere from USA Canada and Europe. In the UK there is no such thing as a pre-nup so you might want to very seriously consider whether marriage or even cohabitation is for you. Although the other partner cannot automatically take your property if it is all in your name when you bought it which is significant. https://youtu.be/WtmFX1edReU?si=4T7FokF-lXxFFYty

I was not aware that there was such a thing as ‘common law marriage’ in the UK. When i looked it up on Safari i couldn’t see anything. I believe it might depend how long you’ve lived together and if children were involved.
