cooling and pedal feel
2
I think it was more to do with heat dissipation, they are very heavy so the brakes get quite hot. if you watch the Nurburgring lap for the Tesla plaid you’ll see how much the driver just coasts it because the brakes are too hot
2
how did you come up with that lmaoo
1
that is because of fade, thats completely different
1
braided lines, performance pads, slotted/drilled discs, can also get braces for the master cylinder to stop firewall flex. other than that make sure everything is in good condition
1
@user-si5fm8ql3c very true, find the same thing with power steering fluid tbh
1
to be expected with such a heavy tank of a car
1
thats not true at all, plenty of sports cars have the calipers in front of the disc. the position really doesnt matter that much
1
that’s just not true, it’s easier to stop less weight. this is why lightweight Hondas etc out brake pretty much everything else on track, and why extremely heavy Teslas cook brakes like crazy and don’t stop very fast
1
@bonesdmz okay so why can’t a semi truck stop quickly? its common knowledge that more weight takes more to slow down
1
how many people are gonna be doing that though?
1
done it before in an automatic 03 corolla, was scary
1
@r107560sl suit yourself
1
yes
1
Better and faster cooling doesn’t mean they stop you faster only more consistently
1
yes go for it, there is also likely more pad choice and part availability
1
i mean he explained it in the video, its for heat dissipation. they also would have better pedal feel which is what you want in a performance car
1
you dont make much sense lol, and the smallest brake that will do the job is the best option. unsprung weight makes a massive difference
1
pads don’t make you stop in less distance if they are capable of locking up the wheels. some may just bite better or take less effort to get the same braking force
1
if your doing those kinda upgrades its usually best to do it all around, you dont want one side of the car locking before the other. also watch your pads because slotted discs wear them about 30% faster
1
you can get proper cold air intakes, and wheel spacers are useful in plenty of situations and are no different to lower offset wheels
1
@derJackistweg something thats not just some ebay intake that just sucks hot air from the engine bay that they call a "cold air intake" most factory intake systems are far from perfect, the idea that you cant improve on them at all is just wrong
1
i mean most options will increase weight but there are definitely some that will be lighter or the same as stock. especially when the oem calipers arent aluminum, like on the altezza for example (is300 in the states) you can save like 4kgs swapping to ls400 calipers
1
depends, alot of the time you are increasing unsprung weight. which is not good
1
lightweight wheels also improve suspension response, both steering and dampers. also found it takes much less revs to get the car moving (manual)
1
small cars are the best :)
1
even on the techno pro spirit mr-s which you should know about, it uses stock brakes. you shouldnt need wider than 9, even 9 is probably slightly too big. do some research and set it up properly, an well tuned mr-s is a weapon in the corners
1
lowered doesn’t mean stanced with crazy camber
1
they do, that equation isn’t correct. there is a reason cars grip better with wider tyres
1
what if you cant get a bigger master cylinder? nothing fits from other cars and no aftermarket company makes one for my celica
1
did you watch the video?
1
you would stop sooner with less weight, this is why lightweight cars outbrake everything else and dont need very big brakes
1
@danvorobiov with drum in disc you get both :)
1
@makantahi3731 did you not see the numbers in the video?
1
depends on what your using it for, full on race pads would not work well on the street
1
what are you taking about?
1
heat management mostly, bigger discs and pads will be able to handle far more heat and dissipate it more quickly
1
@r107560sl no, you are. this is not hard to understand
1
drilled or j-hook are better for a street car
1
doesn’t really matter if they are stronger, disc brakes are better overall. work well for the handbrake though
1
@r107560sl please do yourself a favour and actually learn something from this video, there is a lot of useful information. if you wanna be arrogant and act like you know everything (clearly you don’t) you won’t learn anything :)
