  1. I live in Colorado where the soil is more like ground up gravel. If we get rain, it drains right through the soil on its way to an acquifer 300 feet below. Looking at the deep mud oozing there in Ukraine, I think it explains why they're the breadbasket of the region. They have a beautiful deep and rich layer of topsoil that holds water. Beautiful land. No wonder they love it so. No wonder Putin is so jealous.

  2. Iran's President apparently knows so little about economics that he unwittingly divulged the info in September that Iran's inflation rate was at 60%. It's just getting worse and worse there.
