  8.  @mottscottison6943  You probably get your those two-bit BS from the Chinese propaganda machine. There were no skirmishes between Vietnam and Laos. Laos was on Vietnam's side in the fight against the murderous Khmer Rouge regime. As for Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge which was backed and encouraged by China, attacked Vietnam FIRST across the border and massacred Viet villagers there right after it took over Cambodia in Arpril 1975. For the next 3 years, all requests for talk from Vietnam had always been turned down by it. Hunsen, the Cambodian prime minister now and was a low level cadre of the Khmer Rouge at the time, fled to Vietnam in 1977 after he witnessed its barbarism against its own people, the Chinese and Vietnamese there, and asked for help. There's no other way around, Vietnam had to mount an offensive to depose the Khmer Rouge and stop the genocide in December 1978. The Khmer Rouge was deposed quickly but its remnants fled to the Thal-Cambodian border and hid there. Vietnam followed suit and tried to get them there but the US ordered Thailand to give them refuge inside its border. The US and China at that time were in bed against the Soviet Union. The US just recognized the Chinese mainland government as the sole government of China, severed diplomatic tie with Taiwan as a country and recognized 'one China policy' of China in January 1979, so they were very close. The US, still very much butt0hurt from its loss in the Vietnam War, found a chance to get back at Vietnam; China, also very butt0hurt because Vietnam didn't want to become its vassal state, decided to gang up against Vietnam to relieve their petty pain. That's why the US ordered its dog, Thailand, to house the Khmer Rouge. Diplomatically, China, the US and another US' dog, Singapore, had supported the seat of the Khmer Rouge at the UN for the next 10 years. Militarily, The US and China funded, fed, and armed the Khmer Rouge forces to continue to fight from Thailand. The UK's SAS provided training. Singapore acted as the middle man to transfer the weapons and money to them to hide its master's dirty deeds from the world. Without completely destroying Khmer Rouge forces, Vietnam forces couldn't go home because they might come back and every previous efforts and loss of lives would be wasted, so Vietnam had to cross the Thai-Cambodian border to wipe them out. So that's the reason Vietnam crossed that border. On its part, China tried to stab Vietnam in the back at its border with Vietnam in hope to scare Vietnam to pull out of Cambodia. It also tried to impress the US, its new evil friend with an evil act, and to prove that it's really on the US side against the USSR and Vietnam. Not only China failed to scare Vietnam, it also got 20,000 dead in just THREE WEEKS for attacking Vietnam. For comparison, the US lost 55,000 in its entire involvement in the Vietnam War which lasted 13 years! Not only China failed to 'teach' Vietnam a lesson, it also re-learn the same old lesson that it can't scare Vietnam and would pay a very heavy price if it tries to 'teach' Vietnam! So learn about what really happened. China-US was the sadistic evil force here. To have a chance to satisfy their petty grudges against Vietnam, they didn't give a f about the millions Cambodians died under the hand of the Khmer Rouge. Heck China didn't even give a f about the Chinese-Cambodians murdered by it and the 20,000 Chinese dead troops at the Viet border too! LOL!

  98.  @kitschchauvinismus_9394  China has never officially announced whether that line is meant only for those islands or the whole SCS but Chinese officials have implied or asserted that it's meant for the WHOLE SCS. China has been teaching school children to believe it's Chinese property, so apparently China is using 'salami tactics' here. Even China knows that if it goes all out at once, it would be totally illegal and undo-able so it's trying to eat it bit by bit. But it can't never fool the world! No, the line in the SCS was first drawn in 1935 when China was much weaker than Japan, so drawing a similar line in the East China Sea would mean China asking for a smackdown from Japan. That's why it didn't do that. China always think it can pick on its southern neighbors that's why it drew that line. If Japan and Russia is situated at Vietnam and the Philippines' locations, China would never dare to draw it! LOL! Throughout history, China has a reputation of cowering against stronger countries but loving to pick on weaker ones while thinking it's the center of the universe! LOL! That's the despicable nature of China. Instead of fighting the northern countries when attacked, China chose to build long and big walls to hide. At the exact same time, it turned around and picked on weaker kingdoms south of the Yangtze, expanding west and south. It would never dare to pick on Japan even when being attacked by Japan! Russia took a big chunk of China, stopped China from eating Mongolia, but China only knew to cower and gave it all up, and turned around trying to act tough in front of its southern and western neighbors! In recent history and up until now, it has been continuing on that same path, trying to bully even more countries in the south by claiming the whole SCS. Those islands may have unclear owners but they certainly don't belong to China because they have never appeared on official Chinese map until 1947! You just can't argue about this because China is clearly in the wrong and the source of problems in East Asia right now!

  137.  @janusjones6519  Using Korea to speculate about Vietnam is really stupid! So what about Afghanistan?! Did the Taliban need Chinese help to wear down the US and outlast it? Didn't the US absolutely control the air in Afghanistan, a lot more so than in Vietnam?! LOL! And Korea and Vietnam War are very different. First, N Korea directly crossed the 38th parallel and attacked the South in the first place so the US could argue that N Korea started the war and was the aggressor so it could obtain the UN's mandate and went all in. In Vietnam's case, N Vietnam didn't cross the 17th parallel and start an all out war against the Saigon regime in the first place, so the US' involvement didn't have a UN's mandate. US troops had illegally entered S Vietnam, it's hard to push it any further Second, even if the US ignored all the laws, it still couldn't invade the North from the beginning or any other period. Because, in Korea's case, the Seoul regime had successfully established control over the whole South Korea before the war, so when the US went north later, it didn't have to worry about the rear. In Vietnam's case, throughout the war, the US and Saigon regime could only control the cities and big towns in the South, the rest was either in the hand of the NLF or heavily contested, so how could it go north with its rear widely exposed?! N Korea was beat back because it got its rear exposed at Inchon, do you know about that? AND, Not only the Saigon regime couldn't gain control over the rural area, but it also really weak. If the US wasn't there right by its side, it wouldn't have any control anywhere! It was about to collapse all by itself in 1964 if US' forces didn't jump in to hold it up with both hands! The whole time being present there, the US was trying to keep it afloat and pacify the South but couldn't succeed, so how could it go anywhere else?! In another word, the US didn't even successfully invade S Vietnam, how t f could it invade the North?! You think you're smarter than the US' elite who ran the show at the time?! You think they didn't think about that or wanted to lose on purpose?! LOL!

  146.  @ornchao2561  In this China-Vietnam story, Vietnam definitely IS the good guy. This video clip doesn't concern Vietnam-Cambodia relation so you're way off topic. Nevertheless, YES, Vietnam did take Cambodian land but that had happened only once for the whole 1000 years of history of Vietnam after regaining independence from China. On the other hand, China has never stopped trying to take Vietnam throughout history, if not all at once then bit by bit. And you should remember that the area of land Vietnam took in the last 1000 years is tiny and insignificant compare to what China took in the same period. So if you say Vietnam is bad because of that, China is undeniably much worse. It's very hard for Vietnam to defend herself from China's onslaught if she doesn't have the southern part today because China keeps growing bigger and bigger over that period. On the contrary, China has no excuse to take those lands. It's just pure greed! And be careful what you wish for! In history, when China wasn't even this big, it had expanded up to the central part of Vietnam today. If Vietnam didn't kicked it out over 1000 years ago and stopped the flood, there might be no Cambodia today whatsoever because when China takes, it just doesn't stop in the middle like Vietnam did. And China just hates Vietnam for stopping it so it always likes to back those Cambodian factions who are stupid like you to get back at Vietnam. Therefore, you're just a Chinese tool. And if you gang up with China to take down Vietnam, you're actually trying to destroy the very force that can protect you from the Chinese onslaught! So, don't be stupid!

  157.  @陈陳-t5c  What exactly is the part of my statements not true? What exactly makes you think Mao was sincere?! LOL! You could only know that if you were Mao himself! But the imperialist thinking has been engrained in the Chinese mind for millennia, so I have a BIG doubt about Chinese sincerity in any era. The only thing you can be sure about China is its humongous greed! Mao helped because of his experience with the Korean War. He just didn't want another US' client state at China's border. If the US invaded N Vietnam, China had to bring in some millions combat troops and would have spent and died A LOT MORE. So that's why he 'helped', not because he cared about Vietnam more than the USSR! Russia erased 8 billions USD that Vietnam owed her during Soviet time with nothing attached. Now that's 'help'. You're talking as if the Chinese single handedly defeat the US for Vietnam! LOL! You see? You Chanks are just full of yourselves! That's the problem! Vietnam lost millions in the war but here you are bragging about 1000 dead Chinese! LOL! One single US' dog, S Korea, already had 5 times more dead and more than twice injured than you Chanks! S Korea had over 300,000 participated too but all in combat operations. So you Chanks were even below S Korea in the level of importance in term of human resources! In term of financial 'help', the US had spent 1 trillions in today dollar but here you are bragging about China's $20 billions! And whatever China 'helped', not only did it took all back, it also took from Vietnam much more when it destroyed them all in the decade long war at the border in 1979, by its support of Pol Pot in his war against Vietnam, its robbing of Vietnam's islands, its economic and diplomatic isolation of Vietnam and Cambodia one decade after 1978. So actually, China owes a lot from Vietnam, not the other way around! Vietnam had a very bad experience when Chinese got involved in the battle of Dien Bien Phu and the following Geneva Conference in 1954, so she didn't allow them to do so in the war with the US. The only thing Chinese WERE ALLOWED to do in that war were building and maintaining infrastructures at the areas near the border and defending them. They were forbidden to participate in any ground combat and air defense deep inside Vietnam, so many of your numbers and stories about combat are fake or exaggerated!

  160.  @ornchao2561  Vietnam's history started 1000 years before being annexed by Han. Vietnam regained independence in 939 CE, not 15th century, you id. iot! Why are you trying to teach Vietnam's history to me?! It has no relevant to the topic here. You're just wandering all over the place. I'll summarize your points here. Read and get over with already: 1. You said Vietnam isn't a victim because Vietnam took Cambodian land right? If so, Cambodia can't also be a victim because it had attacked Vietnam even before that trying to annex Vietnam but failed. Cambodia was still the one who drew the first blood so it's STILL wrong here. It just lost at the end so stop talking as if it's a poor innocent victim. 2. You're talking as if China's protecting Cambodia from Vietnam. Totally wrong! China has never given a cr. .ap about Cambodia. It didn't even care about 300,000 Chinese murdered by Pol Pot, or 20,000 Chinese died at its border with Vietnam, so what makes you think it would give a f about Cambodia?! LOL! China attacked Vietnam because it was butthurt from being rejected. Because it's a sore loser! That's all. If Cambodia was situated right next to China like North Vietnam, it would have been disappeared. The opposite is true, Vietnam has been protecting the Chinese onslaught down the Indochina peninsula since 1000 CE. In fact, Vietnam has saved Cambodia from a China's backed regime! You wouldn't have a chance to sit here and b |tch about Vietnam if she didn't cross the border to save you from China's tools! Right?
