@TheMilk Trafficker "they subsequently sacrificed Poland and half of Europe to the communist USSR" I'd be careful about that. It's not clear to me that they had much of a choice, but I don't think they wanted that choice. What realistic alternative do you propose?

@BOB-wx3fq "Dont visit the eagles nest unless you are ok being a national socialist" What if you have an interest in history and like to visit places that are historically significant without necessarily endorsing some particular point of view.

@robtwelve2589 "I’m convinced that car crash was set up by the allies to shut him up." What specifically convinces you? Do you have any direct evidence?
7
Is that really you or one of your many doubles trying to fake us out? Also, I really want to know if you ever watch those fun videos of Best Korea defectors who made it out of your wreck of a country to a place that is relatively livable?

"most of his strategies were solid" Sixth Army enters the chat.

TheJewsOwn TheMedia Rupert Murdoch would like a word with you.

@robtwelve2589 Interesting. But do you have direct evidence? A smoking gun? Witness reports of conspirators planning? A paper trail?

@sebastianbratu1502 Feel free to be humble. I'm not an attorney, I was just trying to be helpful, for which I apologize. I don't have an SO. I won't buy your smokes, but really puff away.

Treason to tyranny makes you a bad person?
1
@raphaelklaussen1951 How so?
1
@notsosilentmajority1 How would they have ended that war? Who would they have surrendered to and with what terms?
1
@notsosilentmajority1 I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but didn't Himmler try to negotiate a separate peace with the Western Allies? Suppose he had succeeded, would the war have continued with the Soviets? And with what consequences for Western Europe? Would there have been political support for a separate peace in the West?
1
Did that happen during a war?
1
@sebastianbratu1502 I think this might be outside the area this channel covers. Possibly. The About on this channel says what the subject area for the channel is. But maybe there's a Cold War connection?
1
@sebastianbratu1502 How much of that death and suffering is related to the topics this channel mostly covers? May I humbly suggest that you look at the playlists this channel has. Perhaps you'll find something of interest.

How would that have saved "saved hundred of thousands of American lives"? Have you heard of Operation Warp Speed?

Manpower shortages?

@MrPh30 I'm not sure that I understand your answer. Wasn't the SS essentially Himmler's? I understand that there would be infighting among the higher ups, but either there'd be a clear winner with bad consequences for the losers, or an uneasy committee type government. I don't know about the SS, but some reading I've done suggests that the officer corps was decidedly not political. Was the SS the same? I agree that the shooters would not have had an easy time of getting away. I'm sure they would have been given pills to take.

Replying to my own post. If found a reasonable looking article at gizmodo titled "9 Quotes From Winston Churchill That Are Totally Fake" IMHO worth a look. It seems the quote, or something very much like it is fake and first appeared in 2001. Could this article be wrong. Sure. Find a link to a more verifiable source and I'll change my mind.

"Most likely a young SS general of some kind would have taken over had the operation succeded. " What makes you think this? Why not Goring? Himmler? Bormann? Or even Goebbels?
1
I think that assumes that there's a good outcome. IMHO I think it's possible the war would have lasted longer and the killing would have been worse.
1
If someone more competent had gotten the reins then maybe the war could have lasted until 47. Maybe. What I really wonder about is who would have gotten the reins and what the aftermath would be like. Probably a blood bath at the upper levels of the party. OTOH, given what some of those leaders were like, it's unlikely that someone more militarily competent would have gained control. IMHO.

@Roadglide911 "I declare war on all peas everywhere!" Just peas? Or are all legumes your enemies?
1
But which general? And how would a general skip over all the politicos at the top?

"the logical thing to do"?

In the Action Adventure movie they'd quickly move to join with the guards and pretend to have seen the shooters and ask if they could join the hunt. Then later they cleverly get lost and find their way to a secret air field where they are flown back to the UK where they are, ironically, punished for doing something that results in someone more competent taking over the German war effort. OTOH IRL it's a short trip to a basement cell where no one can hear you scream.

Really? Why is that?
1
Or possibly things could have been worse.
1
Really? In what way?

Why do you think that Trump is a bad person?
1
@moonmunster What's your evidence, not speculation but hard evidence, that Trump tried to overthrow the government? Lying all the time? A politician who lied? Fetch me my smelling salts. What is your evidence that Trump stole money from his supporters? Has Trump been found guilty in criminal case related to Ms. Carroll?

@ArcturanMegadonkey But he had such wonderful doctors.
1
@ArcturanMegadonkey If you could ask him one question what would it be?
1
Not anyone's. Not even his own.

@raphaelklaussen1951 No worries. I didn't take your statement as being "rude o [sic] patronizing." Although I've never taught at a prestigious American university or for that matter any educational institution, I've come to a slightly different conclusion. It's the questions that people decline to answer but reply to with ad hominems that reveal a person's understanding or lack thereof. Haven't you heard that quote by, IIRC, Richard Feynman, to the effect that if you can't explain something to a freshman you don't really understand it. I'm no longer a freshman, but considering your considered opinion of me, I am ready to stand in for one. Would you care to try again? How so? But don't give up because we do have some common ground. The US, and the rest of the world, does have a vast population of people incapable of critical thinking. Aren't you glad that we can agree on something?
