  1. As a Japanese, I think that we have created a culture of suppressing emotions to avoid conflict, but for that reason we have had to accept isolation and loneliness. A culture of hobbies and festivals developed to heal the isolation and loneliness. So if a foreigner wants to make Japanese friends, joining a hobby or festival circle might be the logical solution.
