@Wanda Fishlips yeah definitely for me. I seriously doubt anyone who can hit accurately with a pistol at 300yds, let alone a hunting scenario. And at that range you have basically zero chance of a chase down. I get it that it was the 70's or whatever but gotta wonder how many shots like that he missed. Maybe we just disagree on what is ethical.

Unethical

@HebrewHammerArmsCo ok.. so what? Look. If you don't CARE that it's an unethical way to hunt, that's fine, nobody is saying you have to have morals, I'm just of the opinion that hunting at 300 yds with a handgun is unethical in my opinion. Take it for what it is.

@1stCallipostle I don't think I'd "lose my shit," I think I would probably just think that they also may be unethical... Not sure why you're freaking out.

@charlessalmond7076 I can see the validity in that. If someone can make 10 10 ring hits in a row at 300yds then I guess it would be ethical... I've never seen anyone do anything like that with a pistol, but I'm not saying it's impossible... Just highly improbable imo.

@JimoftheSlim since you put it in quotes, I'd like to point out I didn't say "cruelty"...I said unethical. If I ever see someone hit accurately at 300yds with a handgun maybe I'll change my mind. Just to clarify: unethical doesn't mean it can't be done. Assuming the article was factual it clearly happened. I'm not a hunter and I don't know if there are actually any laws regarding ethics of hunting. It's just my opinion.

@NapoleonGelignite thank you, that's really all I was trying to say 👍

@Thoroughly_Wet braced? Maybe? Still it's not even a pointed bullet. Who knows what the wind will do at that range. Who knows if that cartridge is a little under or over loaded. I'm pretty sure the round wasn't meant for long range hunting in the first place, but I could be wrong.

@JimoftheSlim take a look at say a 110gr 300 blackout round, that's definitely a rifle round with a pointed bullet, over 2k fps muzzle velocity, but at 300yds the drop starts getting crazy, 14" at 300 and 42" by 400.... Now another 110gr bullet is a 30 carbine .. that gives you a 47" drop at 300... I just don't see how a wider flat nosed pistol round can be called accurate at that kind of distance. The power may still be there to do damage but the accuracy is highly dubious.

@920utdoor sorry I have no idea what elk rounds are. Oh, I googled and this came up quickly: "Slide up to some of the new 190-gr. bullets with B.C. numbers hitting .590 or so, keep velocities at 3,000 fps with carefully built handloads, and 300-yard drop is only 2.3 inches, wind deflection 4.7 inches, retained energy 2,700 ft-lb. Those are better trajectory numbers than many .338 Win. Mag. loads." So are you saying the 357amp is more powerful than a .338 as well? 🤔

@anzaca1 110gr? That's lighter than a 9mm. Whatever go do it then. I look forward to anybody shooting any target at 300 with any pistol, post your link here. Good luck.

@anzaca1 cool story, I look forward to your video of you landing hits at 300 👍
