  3. I have to disagree, in the age of modern weapons (especially man-portable missiles), flat open terrain no longer favors the attacker. This war is proving to me that the traditional mobile warfare/maneuver warfare strategy’s of last century, are obsolete in the face of modern guided munitions and light infantry.

  16. That’s not all that accurate to the current situation. The winter certainly helped Russia out against invaders on their soil, but was a detriment to them when they went in the attack. It’s also not like the EU can’t get more gas from the US in a pinch if it needed it.

It would be a blood bath for the Russians that would make Hostemel, Vuladar, Grozny and Kharkiv look like skirmishes in comparison.

And that’s not even considering NATO will soon surround the Baltic Sea once Sweden and Finland join, potentially cutting off Russian Baltic Sea trade and naval activity in the event of a war.
