Indeed. We shouldn't demand apologies from them, so why should we apologize to others for the past?

Africa isn't paying taxes for nothing. Africa is using infrastructure that belong to Europeans. They pay for their continued use.

So what? The past is the past, move on. Current generations aren't to blame. Also, I will pass on being in tune with "Mother" nature. I don't want to be some tree hugger.

So? How those generations are victims, when they didn't live then? And how exactly is our current generation to blame? Europe isn't a person, you can't judge it the same way you do a person. A person that does evil can never run from it's past, but a nation is composed by people from the past, the present and the future. The Europe of today shouldn't be held responsible for the Europe of the past.

There's no one alive to avenge, nor punish. Time to move on from the past.

@lasselund1643 Precisely. Always blaming us, who weren't even born. When their own people have plenty of blame. How hypocritical that it's okay to blame our current generation, but they never take blame for their own past themselves.

Seeyou Seemee Obviously, it would have to go over maintenance. I doubt African countries would just let it crumble and have to build their own from scratch.

@පැරකුම්බා I'm aware of it. But I won't apologize for something I didn't do.
2
@පැරකුම්බා Indeed I'm okay with that. I don't think Afonso Henriques was an hero, despite founding my country, and goes whitout saying that I have a low opinion about those who started the slave trades centuries ago. I'm an current era European, it's past means nothing to me, for they aren't neither my achievements, sins, nor my life. The only thing from the past that matters is to learn from the mistakes commited then. Sounds perfectly logical to me. I'm an individual, not Europe.
2
@පැරකුම්බා Of course it does. Yes? That's what the past is for? To learn from other people's mistakes. They aren't my mistakes, they are my ancestors mistakes. What part of that is difficult to understand? Why would I apologize for mistakes that aren't my own? Not really. Europe is hardly cornered.

@factsoverfear9771 Which is a sin in itself. The son must never be held accountable for the sins of his fathers.

@පැරකුම්බා I don't need to wash my hands. I never killed a single soul, and even if I did, it would be someone who deserved to die.

@TheOne30264 Cynical much?
1
@TheOne30264 You speak as if the people who did those acts decades/centuries ago are still alive. No one is to blame for their ancestors actions.
1
As long that education makes them realize that no, current Europe shouldn't feel guilt over something our ancestors did.
1
@dhruvagowda9311 Not really. But you are free to make whatever tales you want to make them look better.
1
@mosijahi3096 Hardly.
1
@rodmaiquez1020 Pay to whom? And why? Neither the guilty party and victims are alive.
1
@පැරකුම්බා So what? I didn't choose to be born in Europe. I'm well aware of those benefits, but I won't throw away those benefits for people that are long dead. By using those benefits, I also ensure that those people didn't suffer in vain.

@norman4588 That's fine. It's a part of their history, and that's all it should amount to. Something to remember. And that's fine too, but I keep reading many Africans still completely missing the forgiving part, as they keep on piling up excuses why they can't forgive us.

Lol. What is this BS? We never intended to invade Russia in recent years. Germany was the last one to try in WW2 and the EU didn't even exist then.
