i thought that ISIS started at the time when the house of saud took over saudi arabia and this is just the new generation of ISIS right now?

***** "the only trap that america walked into.......??????" you must have long term memory problems or have been kept in the dark about all of the bungling mis-steps of bush and his administration. we left because we couldn't afford to stay there and america isn't supposed to be about having an endless occupation over another country. that region of the world is not our home. the turkish, iranian and shiite iraqi militias/armies need to step up and defend their homes while we help out with airstrikes. if they don't want to do that then let them enjoy converting to wahabi sunnism and let them enjoy living under sharia law then. they can also thank george bush for giving them these nice ISIS guys to rule over them too.

Billy Skidmore rome made deals with their terrorists and turned them into mercenary armies to go and deal with other terrorists. eventually it came to bite them in the ass when their visigoth general got tired of their bullshit and lead the mercenary army into rome and sacked it.

what we should do is continue with the airstrikes and let the turkish, iranian and shiite iraqi forces fight on the ground. it's their homes and they should defend them. if they don't want to defend their homes and decide that they want to let ISIS take over then that's their decision. enjoy converting to wahabi sunnism and enjoy living under sharia law then.

Gregory Malchuk maybe we can let the turks, iranians and the iraqi shiite militias deal with ISIS on the ground level while we help them out with airstrikes. if they don't want to defend their homes then tell them to enjoy converting to wahabi sunnism and tell them to enjoy living under sharia law and tell them to thank george bush for giving them these nice guys from ISIS to rule over them.

John Doe the turkish and iranian armies should be strong enough to drive ISIS back and as muslims, it would send a message to other young muslims throughout the world that ISIS isn't all that "cool." if we sent ground troops then that would encourage even more kids to want to join ISIS not to mention the fact that we are tired and don't want to end up in another war that will once again drain us of everything and still accomplish nothing and once again make things worse in the long run. this is mroe of a holy war between sect of muslims and other religious minority groups in this region. i know that we were the ones who created the power vacuum but still airstrikes seems like the best thing to do meanwhile supporting the local armies with more arms and hopefully they won't go awol and leave their weapons behind this time.

abdi aden its all part of the master plan of ISIS. they like creating these kinds of confusing, chaotic situations like that. the like these full on free for all's for some reason.

Billy Skidmore those were also factors.

Please, stop denying Jewish history ISIS fought hezbollah in syria. they aren't going to ever side with ISIS. still that's part of ISIS's strategy. attack syria and the shiites and kurds that live there, attack kurds in turkey, threaten kurds in iran, threaten chechens in russia..... does anybody see the strategy here? i see it.,

XZDrake ISIS has been around since the house of saud took over saudi arabia in reality. what we see know is just the next generation of ISIS.

XZDrake political sense and ideological sense. saudi arabia and their gulf state neighbors are really good at hiding things in their countries. the opposition to the house of saud probably didn't seem like any kind of real threat to the monarchies over the years there and so it was probably treated like something to ignore as typical internal competition for power with the upstarts having no chance of accomplishing their goals. nobody would've cared to hear about it unless you were a scholar of middle-eastern affairs.
