PirateKurd giving weapons directly to peshmerga would be seen as being subversive and underhanded towards the iraqi government. its basic geo-political relations where unfortunately kurds get screwed. the iraqi government is still an ally and one that they need to have open communications with. its just how the rules are played.

after ISIS is finally defeated, the shiites and the sunnis are going to be really pissed off at each other for not cooperating with each other and will turn on each other again which might have been ISIS's plan all along.

Andrew Cawley from a geo-political standpoint, that's what anybody in any party from any country would've done. it would also be seen as subversive, underhanded and threatening to the iraqi government to do that and obama nor would any other hypothetical president ever do something that would be perceived that way do something like that. btw i like the idea of an independent kurdistan too.

Darude - Sandstorm i guess there is no pleasing you guys. an arab guy just came up with a progressive and secular idea and you hurled a racial epitaph at him.

Sean Quinn i don't see him saying that in this thread and this is the first time that i've ever seen him on you tube.

Andrew Cawley i think that he is blaming our government and not usa citizens personally.

Andrew Cawley i've never heard of any republican plan to try to push for a free and independent kurdistan. i think that the most that they could do is vocally promote it here in the states. i think that the kurdistan region in iraq would have to petition to secede, iraq would have to grant permission and then the UN would have to vote on it and approve of the secession. they would have to make some pretty interesting deals in order to get the iraqi government to approve of a secession. the only thing that i can think of that would work would be to go back into iraq and topple the too which isn't going to happen. i don't have a problem with the idea of an independent kurdistan but the timing would be wrong and the usa would have to throw moral scruples out the window in order to successfully manipulate the iraqi government to go along with it. the whole world will see through it and if the original iraqi invasion didn't make the usa government look bad enough, this would be 10x worse as far as the image that our government would be projecting to the world and in the arena of international relations, public image is really very important.

VICE News that was interesting. i remember when you all did a story about this exhibition two years ago.

Kurdish Falcon we the tax payers are paying for it and it is mostly a waste of money. especially when our government is lying to us here and telling us that it is supposed to be for defense and not to imperialistically invade other countries like iraq for instance. it's all a big racket and this video shows the racket at play on a small scale.
1
Kurdish Falcon the defense contractors are benefiting. the overwhelming majority aren't benefiting. the government doesn't really have to raise taxes anyways. they just have to look through their storage and sell a few things to the iraqi government that they were never going to use anyways. they aren't supposed to fund peshmerga due to basic geo-political rules. they funded the FSA because they weren't fighting an ally. they can't fund peshmerga directly because it is a militia group that could potentially revolt against the iraqi government who is an official ally therefore.......
1
Kurdish Falcon alright but the government still has to go through the iraqi government if they are going to fund peshmerga.
1
***** its not a good diplomatic move if we are directly dealing with peshmerga.

Andrew Cawley do you think that its a bit of a stretch to blame obama for the iraqi military dropping their guns down and running despite the fact that they had them outnumbered 10 to 1? i think that it is. this is from a progressive american.
