Another worth watching and available on Youtube, is Oh waht a lovley war. Amongst other things it has what I think is the best short version of why the Great War started.

He's related to one of the original publishers I belive. The BBC programme is well worth watching.

Iepere is a fantastic place to vist. Ian Hislop who is related to the original publisher has written a very good funny moving play. There is also a BBC adaption of the book. The original idea came from and is one of the most parodied magazines in the book is Hilaire Bellock's War in Europe. I'm smugly in poccesion of a complete original set.

Yes my friend , but the British and Forign languages can be summed up by the old joke 'They don't understand me? Then say it again only louder!. There are still lot of British coloquisms such refering to wine as Plonk, supposedly a mispronciation of Vin Blanc that most do not know come from the Great War. Though American's do seem to have their own problems pronouncing non US place names
