  1. Funny , the most used American rifle in the Great War was an Britsh design that we sold to the US cheap. Smokeless powder was French invention, The Maxim gun had to come to England for manufactuer and the Lewis to Belgium. Browning's best designs were built in Belgium. The Swiss invented the Bofors, and Orlikeon. And Ryobi are made in China! So your comments on US manufactuer are ?
