  1. Each gun came with a canvas toolcase, that had provison for one spare barrel. Talking to veterans, if a gun was beyond repair, or they could aquire them, barrels were always grabbed, just in case. Doctrine was change barrel after every 400 rounds ,continuous fire. In practice it was rare for this to happen. Barrel life in the 10,000 range, but again in practise if you lost a bit of accuracy no big deal.

  2.  @EDSKaR  :-) LOL.Ihave heard tales of BRENS being used in a sniper type roll One such is of a water tower in France that the German's used as an observation point . A BREN was sighted on the laddder going up. Any time some one tried to go up it, they were given a quick burst to make them think again.
