ninja filmz The Southern States of the US once wanted independence. Did they get it? No. Hawaii once wanted independence. Did they get it? No. Quebec wants independence. Did they get it? No. Northern Ireland wants independence. Did they get it? No The lists goes on. Just because you "want" independence. Doesnt mean youll get it unilaterally. Also, "Taiwanese" is not a race/ethnicity, neither is "Chinese". You can identify as an attack helicopter all you want. But that doesnt change your DNA, nor your government policies. According to Taiwans own government, the people of Taiwan are 98% Han Chinese. And in Taiwans own governments constitution, it strictly refers to Taiwan as a province of China. Moreover, Republic of CHINA, sat on the seat of UN as the country named "CHINA".

Look at all these Taiwanese people proudly waving their Chinese flag lol

ninja filmz ROC revised their constitution 7 times in Taipei, latest being in 2004/5. Not once did they take out the reference that Taiwan is a province of China. Just because average citizens dont care about that doesnt mean their government doesnt. For example, ROC still claim and control islands in the South China Sea. Just because their citizens dont care about taking over the SCS, doesnt mean ROC will relinquish its claim and control in the SCS.

ninja filmz DPP was in power in times when it was revised as well. Just like right now. Yet no change. Also, ROC claims more territory than PRC claims in the SCS. Everyone calls PRC a "bully" for claiming land so close to Philippines, yet Taiwan makes the exact same claim, and even more.

Blaze6432 We are talking about a movement for independence in those areas. In 1995 they had a referendum, 49% of Quebec voters wanted independence. That number is more than Taiwans movement for independence already. "The south didn't want independence" The South didnt want independence?! The South, aka the Confederate States wanted independence from the United States. Doesnt matter what you want to sugar coat it with, when you establish another government, and claim sovereignty over a piece of land thats occupied, you are in a movement for independence (from USA). "China wanted to independence from Japan" Japan never controlled China. Japan only controlled Manchuria and major cities on the coast. Get your facts right. "if it was not for US they wouldn't be around today" Lol dont be so arrogant. The US only accelerated the process to finish off the war. Dont forget that Russia is a major ally to China. "Taiwan's ethnic makeup is completely irrelevant. Singapore and Christmas Island are majority Chinese, but they don't want anything to do with China" That was not my point. You are talking about governments. The conversation here was about their identity, and identity is about an individual. Although the government of Singapore and Christmas island are not related to China, the people their identify themselves as "Chinese". Because they are. Their DNA says so. Just like those in Taiwan, even though they might not want to be.

Casey After centuries of being colonised, ofcourse youd love to be part of the US. Unless youre White. Back then it was mostly the Whites on Hawaii that voted to stay with the US, native Hawaiians were suppressed. You have your freedom?! You dont even have the right to vote for your president! But I guess freedom is subjective. Those in the US mainland are finding their "freedom" impaired due to PC culture. "China needs to get the fuck out of Tibet" GTFO of North America first. Tibet has been part of China for longer than USA was even a country. China only temporarily lost control of its borders due to foreign invasions. "one day someone will no longer tolerate China and nuke the Bitch" You must be uneducated on what MAD is. Mutually Assured Destruction. Google it.

Casey Right. I though it was all islands off the mainland that cant vote. Turns out it was all but Hawaii. "Tibet was never a part of China!" Google Qing Dynasty. And the year Tibet was part of Qing.
