It is not, 'South India'. It is southern India, or 'the southern Indian kingdom of...' etc.

@chethanshajan9047 There was no India either, though there was Bharat. Even by that measure, it should be souther Indian.

@chethanshajan9047 That is demonstrably not true. Adi Sankara of the 7th century establishing peeTha in the four corners of Bharat is a modern example. The idea of Bharat stretching from the Himalaya to the Indian Ocean well predates him.

@chethanshajan9047 You do realize that there is physical evidence of the Sankara PeeTha, right? Even if your analogy to Europe is correct, nobody says 'South Europe'.

@chethanshajan9047 Can you give a couple of examples of subaltern sources each from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra, and UP. While you are at it, also for France, UK, and Germany, continuing with your European analogy.
