America also accords state visits to the Sankaracharya of Christianity and the status of a sovereign nation to the mattha that he heads. This is not to demean anyone - but just a gentle suggestion to the India's 'secular' standard bearers to be sensible and have faith in India's millenia old cultural ethos that has been rich soil for the greatest diversity of religious expression anywhere in the world. That ethos however, is by definition antithetical to any groups that begin the conversation by denying the validity of all other faiths or forms of worship.
