It is not clear to me why saying 'hamare poorvaj itne mahaan the' " is not compatible with working for economic or technological development. Does any one know?

Straw men abound. To say that ANYONE is asking the people to go to the Himalayas, when the ask is for a 5 trillion economy! Pick one thing to criticise. One wing of the society seems to say, "I don't care, just give me something to criticise".

@RK-it9jb Which is why I said in a different comment, straw men abound in this conversation. Who do you think is saying that we stay with the past glories and not innovate now? Without a healthy sense of respect for their past, societies become unmoored. It is like respect for your ancestors. Which I hope that everyone feels respect for. That does not mean that every generation does not have to go out and earn their own bread. Standing up a straw man argument using truisms, and slight bit of derision between the two about maryada purushottam Ram, is just counter productive. Its just a dog whistle for the so called 'left'.

@RK-it9jb That is an enlightened view. However, my worldview of respect allows for disagreement - all cultures need periodic renewal according to the yuga dharma. If respect is too strong a word for you, I would suggest, disagree without disrespect. This worldview allows for accepting that there were some terrible things. If you can erase obvious things such as birth caste from Indian culture, there is much that is valuable and can only be acquired by multi-generational lived experience. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
