In matters of national security, American newspapers are generally 'conservative' at home and 'liberal' abroad. Or is it the other way around?

Fair point. It is still a useful distinction to (try to separate) separate news reports which ideally provide facts without injecting opinion, from editorials which are designed to provide opinion. It gets troubling when news reports become a sly means of injecting opinion into people.

Watch for it the next time. I am sure that it is entirely innocent and not designed to create an impression of guilt by association, but Shri Gupta invariably takes Shri Modi's in the same breath he takes Shri Trump. If it were done on purpose, that would be extraordinarily short-sighted and damaging to the 'National Interest'.

It is frankly lazy of Indian journalists. Do not blithely assign to yourselves 'liberal' and 'conservative' labels. They are better suited for inherently dichotomous cultures which have an 'us vs. them' worldview, than for a syncretic culture like India's. Call each issue by its merits, not by what your club membership dictates.
