It may be more to the point to spend an episode strategising on how to loosen the stranglehold of the Gandhis on the Congress party.

The Greeks had their sophists. India has her 'intellectuals'.

@CosmicValkyrie For the sake of democracy in India, I hope that Congresswalla Gandhi loyalists stop behaving like sheep.

@CosmicValkyrie Until Indian 'intellectuals' squarely address the absurdity of continued feudal 'loyalty to the Gandhis as a reward for their forebears' past contributions', in a modern democracy, and put this absurdity front and center of any conversation about democratic values in India, they will continue to be called out for sophistry, that is lack of intellectual honesty.

CosmicValkyrie Shri Shekhar Gupta was entirely a sophist and an apologist when he spent an entire episode saying the Gandhis get blamed for dynasty politics when everyone else does it as well. That is textbook sophistry. I think his knowledge of Indian political history is better than that. Dynasty politics is a cancer that started with Pandit Nehru and metastased into state politics. Breaking it with Congress will change the norm for Indians as it will set the most important example.

@CosmicValkyrie Clearly, I did not deny that: "Dynasty politics is a cancer that started with Pandit Nehru and metastased into state politics". Causal events are important. Individuals who self-identify as an 'intellectual', or should know better because of better exposure, get held to a higher standard in my books.
