Young Mr. Gandhi should hear himself. 90% of the country live as day laborers! Not exactly crowning glory for Shri Manmohan Singh or for 6 decades of Congress rule.

While in 70 years, India's economy did not grow enough spare reserves to absorb the once-in-a-century shock, young Shri Rahul ji is trying to stoke anger in the midst of the trouble and steer it against the BJP. We'll have to see if the ploy works.

@Sandro Sadhukhan If you think that the financial shock of COVID is in the same class as 2008 or demonetisation, I respectfully disagree with you (I, and probably most people). That aside, 2008 is a decade + 2 years ago! And 61 years after Independence! All the other smart countries of the world have long left 2008 behind in the rear view mirror because they already had a robust shock absorbance capability in place. Japan and Korea come to mind as countries as good points of comparison to India, as also China. They were in roughly the same boat in the first half of 20th century. India continues to suffer because 6 lost decades under Congress rule. I will leave it at that. As to demonetisation, it took India's lowest income individuals for granted the same way the first lock down did. I don't know more about the real objectives of demonetisation of how well they were achieved. Having said that, I cannot see any way in which a country with India's per capita income, infrastructure, and population density could have done any better with Corona. I stated my only objection to the lock down; I am curious how you think it could have been managed better.
