Shri Rahul Gandhi's approach suggests that he is on a dogged personal journey of redemption all his own, unconnected to the fortunes of party or country.

The even more stupendous outcome of the poll is that so many people think that young Shri Rahul Gandhi is the second most suited person to be the next PM. Head-scratcher, that.

@almightypain1307 I don't believe that Shri Rahul Gandhi is corrupt, in a narrow sense of the word, although he supports a corrupt establishment. Because of the powerful position he holds, he poses a real danger to India's democracy. He has also gone through a lot of trauma in life and I personally wish him well.

@smitaswarup8562 I read the RSS position statement at RSS.org. I did not see anything remotely to suggest that they harbor a racial social vision similar to that of either the Nazis or White Supremacists. They do have some sentences about Muslims that made me shake my head at the obtuseness. If you know your history, the often quoted verbiage from RSS leaders of early 20th century is mild compared to that of the democratic leaders of that era. There is only so far that horse can be flogged. I do share their misgivings about the potential for conflict of Hindu cultures with expansionist ideologies - that is just a reality of human societies. The only solution out of this is for all exclusionary religions in India to undergo a reformation to give up expansion and conform to the Indian value system of mutual recognition and respect. I am in fact an enthusiastic supporter of their social vision that advocates for a society that lives in harmony with mother nature and with a smaller ecological footprint. The real reason I think RSS gets out sized attention is not because of any resentment they may hold against Turkik and Mongolian invaders from the past - that is just a red herring - but because they present a Hindu social vision in competition to the two other dominant ideologies of the world, i.e., capitalism and communism. One that hopefully, does not include caste.

There was the guilt-by-association with Shri Trump again, and mental gymnastics to fit data to one's narrative. Entirely different leaders and different voter responses. Shri Modi's supporters doubled during a time of adversity while Shri Trump's base appears to be shrinking.

@maxk1911 You might call them 'deplorables'.

The answer to Shri Gupta's apparent puzzle is in an Alfred Lord Tennyson quote.
