I get the feeling that when Shekhar ji says 'our' or 'we', he is using code to address fellow Hindus among his audience. A more inclusive outlook is expected of the President of the Editor's Guild of India.

Press freedoms are not absolute as another judge famously observed. A simple example is how 'hate speech' is regulated. However, one would always urge caution about importing buzzwords, social models, and ideas from outside without careful deliberation about their relevance and need.

Anyone who believes that India is equal home to all her citizens should enthusiastically agree with the Supreme Court decision. Shows such Bindas Bol can bring to life the devil that one section of Indian press has forever been painting on the wall.

Smt. Indira Gandhi can do no wrong. Even when she does an Emergency, it is actually a blessing in disguise for India. We hope this is not Stockholm syndrome speaking :-)

With respect to Justice Chandrachud's excellent comments on improving the Indian press: India should establish a law like America's FARA law of 1938, that would make all foreign influences on Indian press more transparent. There should be a streamlined process for all members of the Indian press to declare any foreign cash or in-kind contributions, and influences. The need for declaring press-professional memberships in foreign WhatsApp groups, foreign scholarly societies etc. may be debated as well.

Looks like FCRA addresses some of these issues. More knowledgeable people, please comment.

This is slowly turning into an essay :-) but the VHP should have a friendly conversation with Shri Gupta to educate him on the conception of God in Hindu religions.

It should be noted, a necessary condition for being an 'eminent personality' in India is for one to operate in the English-speaking economy of India. Pronouncing government as 'guvment' is bonus.
