International trade is a good thing, but you can't jump into the heavyweight ring after years of snacking. Setting dogma aside, India has to first build some manufacturers of scale that can withstand the competition. India is such a large market that free internal and may be even some carefully metered outside competition can raise standards.

@Jon Simon I don't know the answer. I am curious to know though. (I am not a big believer of -isms, although any system has to be bound by a reasonable protection of individual liberties.)
