Anthony Burke no. But the EU is not europe. And his point is that the 27 eu heads of state can put pressure on the eu to deliver what the eu members want. The EU claims it represents the interest of "the 27" (Barnier says this, though the UK is a fee paying eu member right now yet being treated like an adversary). But we all can see that the eu represents the interests of THE EU. Personally i think we should have planned for no deal brexit, notified the eu, gone that way and invited them to talk. But we've acted like supplicants all the way. It's cowardly.

Ben Pearse how so?

liefhebber179 well. If it were up to me you wouldn't have seen us for the dust, two years ago. But we're dealing with dick heads like the eu and the CRATS here in the UK who like to jerk each other off.

Ben Pearse your first point. The no deal scenario should have been the initial one. I'm not talking about the present situation. It is what it is. We spent 9 months going down the wrong track. That could have been used for no deal planning. We didn't need to trigger article 50. We could simply have notified the eu the date to give them an opportunity to prepare and rescinded the union act. We would then have been in control of the agenda. This was mentioned during the campaign and after. The remainder of your post appears to be just a lecture. Tldr. But we did not have to trigger article 50. We could have forced negotiations on our own terms instead of EU terms. It's too late now anyway, our government has gone the button down route and prolonged the agony.... Try to be a little less condescending in further posts... You're wrong about having to invoke article 50.

Ben Pearse That's got nothing to do with it. We're leaving the eu. "Remain" is planet 🌏 imagination. Yes the UK needs to "negotiate" with the eu. I'd rather do that from outside the eu as a non member. Our whining "remoaner" set and our pm who lacks confidence have other ideas. Ultimately we will get out from under the heels of the eu, but the power crowd will cause hassles all the way.

David Goode did you see that a Spanish judge has now dismissed European and interpol arrest warrants against peugedemont and the other catalan exiles? ...

Anthony Palumbo Not really. The real failure of the UK government is its entire attitude and approach to brexit. It has done EVERYTHING the wrong way. It should have . Planned a no deal brexit and got everything in place for that. . Put the withdrawal legislation through . Informed the eu "we are leaving on such a date and we will move to WTO trading. We will negotiate to sort out flights, visa arrangements, diplomatic representation, security and citizenship issues. Once we leave we can develop a trading relationship from there. . Followed through. We wouldn't be having this total arse licking faffery going on now. The EU might not like it but they would respect it. Right now they think we are pussies.

Sonja Voigt except the eu sux. Which is one of the main reasons I voted to leave it.

Kilgore Trout Well. Perhaps you should try St. John's Wort. We only want to leave the eu..... So do many of the French as it happens.
