  2. I agree with you. It’s their country. When I go to someone’s house I will abide by their rules. They have every right to expect us to respect their culture.

  3.  @banjo5835  yes, I'd be ok with a ''no tourist'' policy as well. However, I still believe that business owners should have the right to refuse service to whomever they choose. If it turns out to be an unpopular decision, they will simply go under/bankrupt. Let the competition with other businesses sort this out. Capitalism has its perks sometimes.

  4.  @notoriousj_  that's why I have no issue with this policy. See my replies above. I think private businesses should be allowed to restrict who they want to serve.

  5. I think any private business has the right to not serve who they don’t want to serve. There’s tons of restaurant options, I honestly don’t care if they prefer Japanese-only customers. It’s the same principle as “no shirt, no shoes, no service” that we have in North America. And I agree with this policy, so I can’t be hypocritical and say that I’m offended if they don’t want me in a restaurant. I’ll just go elsewhere.
