@Earthlinked We keep the Queen because it's our heritage culture and tradition being american you won't understand it's something america lacks it's how we do things. Tourist money is just a nice side line and the Queens lands around £150 million what she surrenders the profits from in exchange for money off the government civil list to carry out her duties as head of state. it works well and we make a nice profit and don't have to suffer clown presidents. The power of the monarchy has been restricted over time but the Queen still holds the power in theory but could only use it in a crisis or with the backing of the people it's unlikely yes parliament is elected by the people. The power the PM uses is through the Crown but the Queen is at the top and politicians are kept in place he could never become a dictator because the Queen could dissolve his parliament and call on the army who is loyal to her to remove him.
