Yeah this is not the cold war 80s- early 90s NATO anymore, this is a war on terror NATO where huge pitch battles are not planned for anymore.

I think a big issue for Ukraine might be that they are following US Doctrine and tactics. The issue about that is that realistically only the US can really pull it off as it relies heavily on overwhelming air supremacy to annihilate any resistance or enemy group builds up to pieces before your own ground forces turn up and sweep the left overs up and keep pushing forward. Ukraine does not have that luxury nor can it fall back on the US high level of technology or even manpower numbers. Don't get me wrong Ukraine was ballsy to try and got to give them respect for attempting this Offensive. But I fear it might have done some real long term damage to their future fighting ability and crippled their main professional mechanized forces that are the elite core of their Army and holding it together from breaking. Worse thing for them to lose is the trained tank and IFV crews and NCO frontline experienced officers that keep an army functioning. Ukraine is fighting in a way that was not Designed for it's capabilities no NATO country can fight like the USA does Doctrine wise. I won't call this a Russian Trap but if Ukraine are not careful Russia will likely take advantage of this and hammer them. But who can forget the possible commando raid on the nuclear plant if it is true and happened like suggested then My god that is just bad. Just a poorly thought out attempt way too exposed, done in daylight not night, no support from Air cover, AA cover, Artillery, smoke or even gun river boats or something, Not even any Amphibious armour. If trained by MI6 or SBS/SAS then they got given the poor training packet then and clearly not taught the proper stuff. Happy birthday as well hope your trip goes well.

It looks like a mini version of the US march on Baghdad or the US desert storm through Kuwait or any US advance really in recent history. But unlike the US ones this one lacked their numbers, Airpower power, massed missile and artillery fire support and even having a whole tech generation advantage.

No the problem is they are fighting like NATO but without the advantages NATO (more so USA) has though. Ukraine unlike NATO don't have air superiority, artillery superiority or even the advantage tech wise either. Ukraine is using Tactics like NATO would employ but the are doing them half cocked and without the needed support assets.

Quebec I think, the French part of Canada.

What happens if Russia repairs the bridges or creates enough Pontoons or temp bridges to keep the supplies going in, And more defences are installed to counter future Ukraine strikes on them the crossings?

Market Garden could have worked but the Gavin lead 82nd did not take neijiemegan until the second day and by then the Germans had prepared and reinforced the town and it was not till 30th corps arrived that the town was opened up. 30th corps infantry then got bottled down in street fighting for a few days. By then it was too late for Arnhem.

@lsunbunl7789 This ain't cold war 1980s NATO tactics, back then they knew how to fight another opposing army. It's been ever since that war on Terror the tactics changed to focus on only small conflicts against inferior militia like forces, focused on small squad battles and building clearing and not pitch battle. That is what happened to NATO in the last 21 years.

A lot of the cold war era people tried to warn us.

It was well planned out on Paper, but NATO forgot that the enemy also has a say and will react and do their own thing.

Thing is as well Unlike China Russia can point to a history of warfare and victories, China not so much. But imagine a NATO like Alliance between Russia and China now that would be a nightmare.

It takes months to get a soldier up to basic, never mind more advanced skills or roles training. British basic takes several months at least, then they move you onto more specialised sets of training depending on your role. And to get elite level Special forces troops that takes years of training, real service time and then a harsh long course of just to pass the selection and then the real training for the type of SFs you join. Ukraine's troops in UK at best got the basic training and maybe a limited time on the more advanced training.

Get shot to pieces to lack of armour.

A-10s really those things won't survive a modern battlefield with functioning SAM systems in play.
