  1. Except they broke all the replacements also. It would be nice to have someone manufacture some replica needles; it wouldn't be that difficult, and with modern metallurgy they'd last longer.

  2. Ragimund VonWallat What is your point here? Everyone is aware that the needles are subject to extreme wear, I merely wrote that a replacement needle using modern metallurgy & surface treatment would last longer than the original style of firing pin. Which it obviously would.

  3. Ragimund VonWallat LOL, Something is clinched here! Perhaps you would care to explain how untreated steel from the middle of the 19th century can handle the stress of the Dreyse system just as well as any 21st century nitride treated steel. I'd like to hear all about it.
