Lone Star Ticks which cause Alpha-gal do not employ the same strategy as Deer and Dog Ticks which crawl up the stems of tall grasses and low bushes, and then wait for a host. Lone Star Ticks actively quest for their hosts, and they are frequently found on well mowed, suburban lawns (where you would normally never find Deer or Dog Ticks).
