@reccerat4446 - I was 45 Commando Recce Troop, a cocky little newly promoted early 20s L/Cpl who though he ruled the world!! it's funny you should mention the walk back, I was going to relate a brief dit but didn't as I thought people who'd never been there would think it was 🐮💩 ... in essence it involves some 'working girls' upping the prices because the Gringos were in and the local sugar cane workers kicking off, cue a huge fight, them coming back a while later with rifles, a dozen of us legging it back to Holdfast with them shooting at us all the way and us being 'rescued' by a Blues & Royals CVRT (comanded by the poshest person I'd ever met in my life, I think he was a Rt Hon and heir to Fuller's Brewery). If it hadn't been for a REME Sgt (who was a Combined Service runner) covering the distance back to camp in a record time and convincing Fuller to come and get us I'm convinced at least a couple of us would have disappeared into the trees never to be seen again! Such happy days 😁.

@reccerat4446 - It is in the middle of the 'high street', 7 or 8 steps up to it which was just enough to bruise every part of your body when you fell down them 4hrs later! I was there in '93 and although it was full of bullet holes there wasn't a SA running it then. It remains one of the craziest places I ever had the pleasure of earning a hangover.
