Comments by "Jammy Dodger" (@JammyDodger45) on "British Army's Ranger Regiment's breaching skills put to the test" video.
The minor problem with that EU army reference is that there isn't an EU army and if there was the UK isn't in the EU. Other than that it was a top post

They don't have an Arduous Selection Course (that particular phrase is how the UK Military classifies physical testing regimes such as the Commando Course, P-Coy, UKSF Selection). The requirements and process required to join the Rangers is on the British Army website, there's no secrecy about it.

No physical tests, just Aptitude tests. If you can walk and talk at the same time then you're in!

This mob are not SF so not 'prone to capture' troops.

Thanks for clearing that up, we all thought they were 🙄

@Art-is-craft - you're totally wrong on all your points, that level of inaccuracy deserves praise so well done you! Given how wildly wrong you are I presume you're a civilian, in which case why are you commenting? But I'll indulge for a while, please enlighten me about what is high performing about the Infantry battalions that form the vast majority of the Rangers? I'm going to say absolutely nothing. They're bang average at best. The ancillary Corps certainly have high performing elements but you won't be seeing 3 Cdo Bde or 16 AA Bde losing people to join an organisation with no war fighting role. The Special Operations Brigade has been around for years (albeit under a different name) and has achieved nothing of note. This shower will follow the same arc.

Half of them would fail an Arduous Selection Course, especially the older SNCOs & Officers!
3
@Niallistical - no they aren't. Additionally Britain had SBS and Commandos before the US had SEALS and Rangers.
3
So they feel 'special'.
2
@aydanjones2219 - 🙄 SBS formed in 1940, US Navy SEALs in 1962. Commandos formed in 1940, US Rangers in 1943. I'm not sure if you know how time is measured and stated so maybe get an adult to explain those numbers to you and you'll understand that you're wrong.
2
@JP-tk8nx - unless he goes All Arms Commando.
2
@phill9283 - 42yrs and you think Paras and Commandos will go. Oh dear, that's really bad news for UKSF since those 2 organisations provide circa 80% of the successful applicants. 🤷🏻♂️
2
@Art-is-craft - you're not in the military are you? Your post makes very little sense. The Rangers are already staffed and the vast majority of them are infantry. By very definition the UK military has a finite 'elite' element and none of them are Service Support Corps like your much vaunted Signals and Engineers. And the All Arms Ranger course is not an Arduous Course, 1/2 of it is in the classroom! I've no idea why you've decided to go all fanboy over the Rangers, maybe your boyfriend is one 🤷🏻♂️ but for those of us who actually know what we're talking about they're a joke. Rangers are what you join if you want to be a soldier but are too scared and weak to actually achieve it.
2
@MC14may - it most certainly does. Do you think it's a coincidence that the vast overwhelming number of guys in UKSF come from the Royal Marines and Para Veg?
2
Oh dear, the failings of the US education system are yet again laid before us. Britain has had Ranger units for many years. It's where Yanks got the title from!
1
@lade_edal - That's a Muppet statement from you, you're usually above this sort of thing. But hey what do I know, I'm sure you're correct and as Sgt Paul Bartlett was killed in Afghanistan he called Captain David Patton a Walt! 🤡
1
Except they are literally professionals which rather negates you point 🤷🏻♂️
1
I'm not saying they're any good at it, just that by any definition they are professional not amateur given that 'soldiering'' is their actual profession! But I'm sure your experience of gaining entry to armed enemy locations far outweighs these guys so you're well placed to pass comment 🙄 And no one, outside of the YT comments section' thinks they are SF 🤷🏻♂️
1
@garagenigel you can't even name who the enemy are so I'm not going to trust you. Thanks for playing though.
1
@phil - did you miss the lads with wings?
1
@MC14may - I guess we'll never get to hear your thoughts then as you've invoked Operation Minimize 🤷🏻♂️
1
@Stanly-Stud - you're not needed here, you should get back to what you do best, sucking sailors for a tenner.
1
@Stanly-Stud - did you hit report on my reply? 🤣 What an absolute melt. Too scared to even be a keyboard warrior never mind an actual one. Classic.
1
@Stanly-Stud - aah bless, did you fail to make the grade to go Para? Never mind, off you hop, there's blankets to be stacked in your store.
1
They're training. If they knew what they were doing they wouldn't need training. That's kind of the point. 🤡
1
@Matthew-s7x - so you want to edit that so it makes sense? If they get scars from something I can guarantee they'll change what they're doing!
1
@Matthew-s7x 🤦🏼♂️ everyone has the right to be a bit thick but you're abusing that right. I presume you're a Spam so maybe think a little laterally before you reply.
1
No. Please enlighten us.
1
That outfit is barely over 50yrs old ... there were many other units called 'Rangers' before the Bog Trotters adopted the title.
1
Didn't you notice the wings on their shoulders?
1
@newton18311 - oh bore off you pointless Troll, I'm in the British military. Now jog on and go and bother some schoolkids like you do in real life.
1
@ghostwriter2031 - Sherwood Rangers in WW2 spring to mind.
