@JJ_Khailha - "I know they are not UKSF. That doesn't mean they are not special forces". And the prize for making no sense goes to David! What do you think the SF part of UKSF stands for? When SRS was called Brigade Patrol Troop I was on it. Despite the name change it's almost exactly the same as it was back then. What we did (and still do) are classic Commando roles. We weren't SF then and we're not SF now. No matter how much of a fanboy you may be.

@JJ_Khailha - nope, not UKSF.
18
Err no guys. 3 Commando Brigade ditched the SA80 2yrs ago.
13
@JJ_Khailha - it's not "only YT" when someone is writing rubbish about my Corps. If you'd served you'd know, if you've not served why comment in the first place? 🤷🏻♂️

@JJ_Khailha - passing on knowledge and information to enlighten always feels like a positive thing.
6
@rl7354 - because of our broader skillset. The Mountain Leader Qualification is an internationally recognised course and as such it attracts a higher level of Recruitment & Retention Pay than the High Altitude Parachutist pay that Pathfinders get. Additionally the ML RRP is paid as long as you stay in the Corps no matter which role you're in unlike HAP which ceases when you leave the Pathfinders. And the final factor is that ML RRP rises as you gain the next Qual whilst the HAP remains the same no matter your rank.

@StephenButlerOne - I joined the Corps in '89, was on 45 Recce by '93 and Brigade Recce by '95 (followed by my Juniors, ML2s and BPT in the 5yrs after that). None of those organisations were full of SB rates. The M&AWC in all its names has always been MLs.
5
@mamba81 - the literal definition of a Commando force then. But still not SF.
4
Except paid more.
3
@meme4one - sssssh, the armchair warrior battalion will mobilize against you if you carry on posting sensible accurate stuff!
3
Except that isn't any CANSOFCOM units motto 🤷🏻♂️
3
@mamba81 - being a part of SFSG or a SF Support Unit such as 18 Sqn or 264 categorically does not make you SF. We're not Americans where walking past a Green Beret makes you SF 🙄
2
@fvlminata3999 - "last I checked" 🤣 And how did you achieve that check? Did you go and find a member of SRS and look at their pay statement? Because if it didn't have the line RRP-SF or RRP-SRR then they're not SF. No matter how much it hurts your little feelings you're wrong.
2
@mamba81 - SFSG members aren't SF either. What is wrong with all you civilian posters desperate to claim Units are SF when you actually know nothing at all about them. Just as you don't know if another poster is a kid or not. So save your energy for something you actually know about rather than things you're oblivious to.
2
@LS-jv9hp - SAS(R) remained SF during the brief time that ISR had OpCon, the Troopers retained their SF pay and parent units so were the same status. If you were around those Units at the time you'd know 23s very distinctive OC and I'd like to have seen someone tell him he wasn't SF anymore (although he was RAF Regiment so was used to people doubting him!). And the HAC never received SF status or pay, they had the same uplift as the RA OP parties ... although the HAC liked to act as though they were SF to those gullible enough to believe them.
2
@mamba81 - the MoD does not disagree with me. It clearly lists SF Units in the UK ORBAT and SRS features as a 3 Cdo Brigade asset not a DSF asset. At least if some of you were children you'd have an excuse for your ignorance.
2
@mamba81 - I'll write this slowly so you can keep up. This unit is on 3 Cdo Bde. SFSG are not SF. Special Operations capable is not SF. I hope that helps.
2
@VIPICCB8 - that's a pitiful attempt at a 🎣. Must try harder. 2/10.
2
No. A step above.
2
@fvlminata3999 - so you saw this video and then called them up and said "hey Uncle Tom is RM SRS a SF unit?" Of course you did. And they'd know more than I do since I only served 25yrs in the Royal Marines. ✊🏼💦
2
@fvlminata3999 - but this is the UK. And this unit isn't SF. I may well be stupid but I'm not wrong kiddo.
1
@VIPICCB8 - you're very bad at 🎣 kiddo, as far as insults go that's a 1/10
1
@auwz66 - 🙋🏼♂️

@randomuser1911 - the UK doesn't Tier it's forces. That's an American SOCOM thing and has NOTHING to do with ability, the Tier'ing reflects strike capacity only. But YT is full of people who fail to grasp that basic concept. Don't be one of them.
1
@randomuser1911 my wife has a few informal names for my 🍆 but it doesn't mean they should be repeated in public! If you are mates with that currently serving Commando feel free to take a guess at one of the 🍆 names and call him it for repeating 💩. The big timing sprog.

@G4x5da - and yet MLs get paid a far higher RRP. I wonder why? Funny old world isn't it?
1
@G4x5da - there are notionally 3 levels but in reality only 2, which are rank dependant, and the lower rate ML RRP still far exceeds PF pay. Does that answer your "so"?
1
@G4x5da - it's not "higher pay". Their respective base level salaries are the same (rank by rank). RRP is an additional payment set by a civilian renumeration committee which directly reflects the greater skills and capabilities of the person receiving it. Current rate of RRP for PF is £12.14 per day, current low rate RRP for RM ML is £26.29. Do you now feel suitably enlightened now or do I need to elucidate further?
1
@G4x5da - 🤔, did you miss the bit where I pointed out the remuneration is assessed by an independent civilian panel and reflects skills and capabilities? How is that about pay as opposed to ability?
1
@G4x5da - "fancy words" 😂 Sorry, I didn't realise I was communicating with a 12yr old. That's not my thing. I'll leave that to your 'uncles'. Toodles.
1
@JJ_Khailha - so essentially you're accepting that you're wrong but being too egotistical to admit that even to anonymous strangers on a forum. Instead you double down and write even more utter rubbish. Okaaaaaaay fella, off you go and have a good day at school, hopefully today's lessons will include humility and accepting responsibility for your own actions. P.S. stop 👍🏻 your own posts, that level of narcissistic insecurity undermines your already shaky position.
