  1. It’s probably true what James Cameron said, but I wouldn’t call it a charade. Rescuers and other experts probably already knew the sub had imploded and the people on board were dead, but once the search was initiated, continuing it to completion served as an excellent training exercise which could provide needed experience for future rescue efforts.
