Hemmingway put up $2750 for the flim, and donated all his royalty. He touted Hollywood to raise funds for the communist, an effort reciprocated when they name his book "for whom the bell tolls" a book-of-the-month club selection and a multi-million dollar Hollywood production. This was how one achieved "autistic success" in the early 1940.
