1:16:22 Triggers Broom from comedy Only Fools and Horses is the British version of The Ship Of Theseus, the funny thing is that it actually works better than the original and actually answers the question.

Isn't the probable reason Hood was called a Battlecruiser is due to what they thought the future of Battleships were, especially when you look at G3 and N3's level of armour. But then when you get to WW2 amour steel is better for the thickness therefore Navies didn't jump up asmassively. And I imagine Iowa was classed as a battleship because it had the same thickness of armour as the South Dekotas and North Carolinas. Which I imagine was a holdover from the original 14 inch gun design and therefore was a relatively weak armour compared to others but with the circumstances made sense to be called a battleship.

@jonsouth1545 where did you get the information that Hoods crossbeams and structural regidity was low especially for a fast ships that's the opposite of engineering principle and how much weaker were crossbeams and where does the Royal navy say under this structural regidity it's not a battlecruiser?
